BA135 – Superplasticizer

Product Description

Concrete superplasticizer BA135 is designed for concreting at very hot temperatures or long transportation. This concrete superplasticizer is able to maintain the workability of concrete for a long time and prevent the occurrence of cold joints in discontinuous concreting. In addition, it is suitable for use in strong concrete that requires high strength and good performance, this concrete superplasticizer is chlorine-free and is produced in accordance with ASTM C-494 Type B, D, G, Iranian National Standard No. 2930 and other international standards and is compatible with all types of cement. Obviously, due to the diversity of cement and aggregate characteristics in each project, preliminary tests are necessary.

Performance

Conventional superplasticizers, which are generally based on melamine formaldehyde or naphthalene sulfonate, are absorbed by cement particles during mixing, and in the initial moments of cement dewatering, this group of polymers increases the negative charge of cement particles and causes them to disperse.
BA135 concrete superplasticizer differs from conventional superplasticizers in practice, as the base of this product is polycarboxylic ether and has molecular side chains. At the beginning of dewatering, like conventional superplasticizers, it disperses cement particles well by increasing static electricity. In the future, the presence of side chains greatly prevents the re-aggregation of cement particles and keeps them separate and dispersed. This behavior creates fluid concrete even at very low water levels.

Applications

The excellent cement dispersing property of BA135 has made it an ideal additive for producing strong concrete, especially in designs where the water to cement ratio is very low. With the help of this product, fluid concrete can be produced that is easily moldable and fills all parts of the mold without the need for vibration and is free of large bubbles.

Effects

In addition to the effects of this additive on fresh concrete, which are quite noticeable during the construction and pouring of concrete, it also has a favorable effect on hardened concrete. These include: increased long-term compressive strength, increased flexural strength, improved modulus of elasticity, improved adhesion to reinforcement and steel, better resistance to carbonation, lower permeability, better stability against environmental damage, reduced shrinkage and creep, and greater durability.

Compatibility

This concrete superplasticizer should not be mixed with any other additives unless approved by Behsazan Company specialists. If multiple additives are required, each should be added separately to the concrete mixture. This additive is suitable for concrete mixtures containing microsilica, fly ash, and blended and pozzolanic cements.

Usage Amounts

The typical usage of BA135 concrete superplasticizer is between 0.3 and 0.8 percent of the weight of cement (total cementitious materials). Amounts outside this range are permitted subject to field tests.

Usage Guidelines

BA135 concrete superplasticizer is a ready-to-use additive and should be added during concrete production. Its best effect is achieved when about 70 to 80 percent of the water used is added. Never add this product to dry materials. Thorough mixing must be done, and for this purpose, after adding BA135, stir the mixture at high speed for 120 seconds. The occurrence of water-dropping is related to the poor granulation of the materials and is eliminated by increasing the fine particles (fillers).
